Certain rims or spokes for 290 lb rider of gary fisher wahoo?
I regularly ride a 06′ Gary Fisher Wahoo with 80psi tires around the city and with a backpack. I weight about 290lbs. Should I be using certain rims or spokes to better support my weight? I have had to fix my rear spoke tension twice in three years, and have ridden about 1000 miles in that time.
I would replace the rims with something a little more heavy-duty if you’ve been having problems.
When you go to your bike shop tell them you’re looking for a double-wall rim. Any rim with a double wall will servy your purpose. Alexrims, Mavic, Rhino, as well as many more wheel companies make them. You can even get tripple wall rims, but these are usually for big guys doing downhill and freeriding.
